A Thousand Cranes in association Arts Depot present “The Little Mochi Man” For children aged 4 -7 and their families Written and directed by Vicky Ireland Animation and music by Julian Butler.
“The Little Mochi Man” tells the story of a little man made of mochi – a traditional Japanese sticky rice ball made at New Year’s time. He is the last scrap left in the bowl and the other Mochi tease him, so he decides to run away. He soon finds himself in the middle of an exciting adventure; travelling all over Japan from the snowy mountains of Hokkaido, to the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, meeting many creatures and characters along the way including a magnificent Crane bird, a kite, the Gingerbread Man and a very fast bullet train.
Performed by 2 versatile actors with ‘origami’ puppets, animation and specially composed music, this is the perfect introduction to Japan for little children.
The performance will be at 3pm till 4pm at The Blue Room, The Lawn, Union Road. Tickets are £5 per adult and £3 per child.
